Elmwood Zoo Wild Lights Norristown Pennsylvania

Every year during the holiday season, we like to check out light displays, and one of the most magnificent places to see fabulous lights and some pretty cool animals is at the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown. This location is right outside of Philadelphia and their address is 1661 Harding Blvd, Norristown, PA 19401. For the 2022 season, they are are running the Wild Lights from November 18th to December 30th, and it is possible to purchase tickets on their website which I have linked for you at the bottom of this post.

The Elmwood Park Zoo Wild Lights is very easy to navigate, and there is a clear path to follow which is amazing. Since it is very close to winter, and cold in Pennsylvania, some of the animal exhibits may be closed, however, so many animals actually do thrive in the late autumn and winter seasons. My absolute favorite when we visited was an adorable porcupine that seemed to have super strength. The chunky fellow enjoyed climbing up the fence, seemed to do a backflip, and then was taking laps in his area. The porcupine ran up to us right away and was quite social.

There was one indoor exhibit that was open at the time we went with several mammals and even some Montezuma Quail! Even though the exhibit was indoors and warm, there were large open doors to keep the air flowing which was nice. In general, I would recommend wearing warm layers, a hat, gloves, warm shoes, and hand warmers if you have them. It can get very cold up here in the North East region!

The trail itself is easy to navigate, and it is not very arduous. It is basically a loop which is nice, especially walking at night time! The Elmwood Zoo Wild Lights is a great activity to get outside and enjoy with the whole family. It is an educational festive experience that you will treasure forever! You might even see a Bald Eagle or two! I will leave the Elmwood Zoo’s website below so you can get the most up to date travel information. Make sure that you click that subscribe button! Happy Holidays!!!

I highly recommend the book “Hiking Waterfalls In Pennsylvania.” It specifically maps out where you can find waterfalls in each area and region of the state. If you are an outdoor adventurer, you will want to check this out!
