Koziar’s Christmas Village In Bernville Pennsylvania

The Koziar’s Christmas Village, in Berks County Pennsylvania, has one of the most elaborate and unique light displays in the area. You can find this location at 782 Christmas Village Road, Bernville, PA 19506, and it is about an hour and a half drive from Philadelphia. As you are approaching this unique place, it appears as if dazzling gingerbread houses erupt out from the land, and the sight is truly breathtaking. The area actually has more then a million lights throughout all of the displays!

In 2022, their current hours are listed as Mondays through Thursdays 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. On the weekends they are open Fridays 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Their standard pricing for tickets are ages 3 and under are free, ages 4 to 10 are $10, ages 11 to 64 are $12, and seniors who are 65 and over are $11. Their prime nights pricing for tickets are an additional $5, and these include weekends (Fridays through Sundays) and also the Christmas week which is December 20th through the 26th. Their opening weekend began Saturday, November 5th, and are open all nights from Thanksgiving until the end of the season January 1st.

You do pay upon your arrival to the village, and when you arrive you see two lines for cash or credit. I will leave a link to their website at the bottom of this post as well. There is a quite large parking area, and it is free which is so nice, and wonderful if you are traveling here.

For several years, prior to our visit to this Christmas Village, we have only heard great things about it from our friends and family. At the kick off to every holiday season, one of our personal traditions after Thanksgiving is to enjoy a festive travel trip somewhere local to really embrace the season, and we knew that this would be the perfect place to go!

To give you a little history of this establishment, in the early years, prior to being a holiday destination, it was the Koziar’s Spring Lake Dairy Farm. The holiday decorating and village was originally a hobby for William M. Koziar. It all started back in 1948, when he started to decorate his property for the enjoyment of his four children, and wife Grace. Christmas is a very major time of year for the Koziar family, and they truly love and embrace all of the unique traditions, stories, and carols from all the parts of the world.

Originally, for the locals in the area that would come to enjoy the beautiful light displays, and it would be known as the “Christmas House.” After the crowds grew to be more expansive, they renamed the region the “Christmas Village.” I was amazed to learn that the roof of their barn displays large handcrafted metal decorations that were created by welders in the area. Through the years, the family has added lights to the barn, sheds, fences, trees, and even onto their gorgeous lake in front of their family home. You can really see how much this holiday has meant to them as you walk through their intricate displays.

On the weekend when we visited the Koziar’s Christmas Village, it was a little chilly, and it does tend to get this way in Pennsylvania during the late autumn and early winter season. If you are traveling here, I would highly recommend wearing warmer outwear because late November to December is typically when we see our first snow fall of the year. There is the occasional warm day, but it tends to be a little more brisk in the Northeast region of the United States. We love it though, and the colder weather reminds us that the holiday season is here, and it is very refreshing!

As we meandered on the path in the village, we viewed the one of the largest train displays that I have personally ever seen. It had these really sweet small city buildings in it with the gorgeous barn in the background. I think everyone walking by the trains were enthralled and captivated by it. It was truly a fantastic view to behold.

As you walk through the display, you will also find many of the classic Christmas tales with spectacular decorations. Even their house looks like it is right out of a fairy tale. With every corner you turn, you will be continued to be amazed. You can even feel the merriment of the crowd walking through with their collective voices saying “wow” and “beautiful” as they make their way through the village.

Another favorite of mine were these miniature displays in windows that were extremely detailed. There were scenes of Santa Claus, famous movies, holiday trains, and so much more.

They also do have these sweet little shops where you can purchase gifts or delightfully decorated ornaments for the holidays. Also included are several indoor displays, in addition to the snack shops and restrooms too. It took us about an hour and half to walk through the village to give you an idea of how long you might be here when you visit.
