The most enchanting and stunning flower display that you will want to check out if you visiting the Keystone State is the PHS Philadelphia Flower Show at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. This year, in 2026, it is running from February 28th until March 8th 10:00 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily (closing early at 6 p.m. on the 8th). It is definitely worth a visit, and I would recommend setting aside at least 2 hours to explore the area.

This year their theme is “Rooted: Origins Of American Gardening” which features many educational areas to learn more about the beginnings of the country, and how it has impacted us culturally today, from produce, to the flowers that we currently enjoy.

There is also a “magical forest” which comprises of sweeping root structures, bonsai plants, and delicate orchids.

Over the last year, we have definitely attempted to get out more with our toddler, and this is the first time that we have visited Center City with her. I feel like it worked out well, because there was definitely enough space to navigate a stroller through the Convention Center, and there was an elevator to go up the different levels which was super helpful.

You will want to note that this is a heavily populated event, and it does draw a very large crowd with tickets that sell out very fast. Also, in regards to noise levels, it was not too bad, but they do have instrumental background music, in case if you want to bring along noise canceling head phones for your child. We went on an “off time” Sunday evening after 5 p.m., and even though it was busy, there was room to enjoy the displays and meander about.

This event is the oldest and largest indoor horticultural event in the United States, dating back to the early 1800s, with the nation’s first public floral exhibition at the Masonic Hall on Chestnut Street. It has been visited over the years by many First Ladies, such as Eleanor Roosevelt, and also a royal visit from Princess Grace Of Monaco (originally from Philadelphia) who served as a judge in 1976.

The Philadelphia Flower Show is so visually captivating, and I would highly recommend a visit if you enjoy educational gardens, gorgeous flower displays, spectacular art, and learning about “the roots” of the country.

If you are interested in finding out all about how the state of Pennsylvania came into being, a fantastic book that I recommend to you is “Pennsylvania A History Of The Commonweath”. It is so detailed, and it truly makes you appreciate how the Keystone State was formed. (I really enjoyed learning all about the Quakers, and their unique perspectives!)
