Baby On The Way

I am super excited to announce that my husband and I are having a baby very very soon! (Most likely within the month.) We have not told many people, and have kept it fairly quiet for awhile, but I wanted to tell you all as their arrival is getting closer by the day!

We have known for a couple years now that we wanted to have a baby, and since getting pregnant, life has become a whirlwind. Emotionally, it has been a combination of nerves and happiness. In the last few months, we have basically been on project mode, just trying to get everything set up for them for when they do arrive. You might not think so, but there is so much that goes into the preparation of having a baby!

It has been fun sharing the news with close family members and friends, and we are grateful to have a great group around us as well. It has also made me reflect on the family that is not here anymore, but I know that they would be thrilled for us. I am hoping to carry their traditions on to the next generation so that their memories can continue in that way. In addition to their traditions, these individuals taught me the importance of kindness, and that is truly something of value.

I am a huge fan of adventures, and I think that this will probably be one of the biggest adventures that I ever encounter. Since this is my first child, I can not claim that I know all the answers right now, but I think I will figure it out along the way. I also know that what I think I know now may change when I am in the thick of it, but I will do my best to pivot and keep learning for them.

I am going to take a little time for the baby, so I may not be on here for a bit. I am planning tentatively on returning in September, and taking a couple months to adjust to mom life. I think the only difference in the future is that we will have a little adventurer along with us, and I am looking forward to writing more travel guides for you!

(As a preview, some of the next places that we will be exploring are different regions in New England such as Rhode Island, and interesting Pennsylvania cities like Pittsburgh. I will also add in some Philly spots for all my local friends on here too!)

Thank you all for being here, and supporting this blog, it does mean so much to me. I am very excited for the future, family, and much more writing to come!

I do have a book recommendation for anyone that is becoming a parent out there that I found very useful, and it whisked away a lot of stress while reading it. The book is called “The Simplest Baby Book In The World” and it takes you step by step on how to set things up for a new baby. It is a straightforward guide, and we have leaned into it a lot to it as we have decided on which baby essentials that we really need. It has awesome advice from experts, parent hacks, sleep scheduling, and various first-year basics that will make your life easier. There are a ton of books out there, and the way this one was set up in an easy to understand format was really helpful, especially as a first time parent!

  1. Oh Allie, I am so happy for you both, it’s such wonderful news! Summer is the perfect time to bring a baby into the world. My two were both July babies. Your lives will change but only for the better as they will be enriched by parenthood. My two boys are both young adults now but we still love them to bits and see them often. We always travelled from when they were tiny so I’m sure you’ll have plenty more adventures around the USA and eventually further afield to come. Take care and do keep in touch when you can to let me know how you are getting along. Love to you both Marion xx (you can email me if you prefer)
